who are you?

Image
love and relationships all boil down to one single fact, we want people to understand who we are and love us for who we are without judgement. if that isn't what you're getting out of yours, you are getting a raw deal. here's where people go wrong, going about their relationships showing an image of strength. no one is perfect and trying to project that image is basically lying to yourself. you've got to be an idiot to do that!? at some point you will break down and depending on how long you were spinning the facade, all hell will break lose.live by knowing your weaknesses and admitting them. we really didnt think you were perfect, we were just judging you for the wrong reason. when you own your weakness it becomes a source of power. power that no one can bring down. unless you let them. you've got to be an idiot to do that!? here's what i think is clear picture of me. who are you?

human nature

It’s our memories that make us as human beings. You learn to walk and you have to remember how to walk for the rest of our lives. What if the caveman who invented fire couldn’t remember how to do it the second time round. “I had it a second ago but I don’t know what happened!” We probably wouldn’t have come this far in evolving. We probably never take the time to appreciate our brains. “I can do, so who cares how I do it?” That’s why athletes are some of our superstars. They have to remember how to do it the second time round, everyday. So, what happens when our brains fail us, we end up “insane”. We never did understand how we did it, now we have no idea how to fix it. Point is, never overlook our mentally handicapped. Wasn’t their choice to get to that point and now have to play the hand they’re dealt. Though, they may never understand that. Ending up in the famous Mathare Mental Hospital was the cruelest insult/joke that we would tell each other. Basically we didn’t fully gra…

The Talk

Image
When is it time to have the talk? What factors determine the time to have the talk? Probably age and maybe “smartness”. You don’t want to give too much information to bore them but also enough to cover the basics. More or less like a bikini. I think it time we had the marijuana talk.
Yes I just said that. This isn’t a diversion tactic but it’s time we talked about it. First it’s a plant. Secondly it isn’t the leading cause of insanity and stupid decisions. This blogging gig is probably a bad decision but not stupid. It’s a bad idea since as an African child you can’t talk back to your parents. Whether they may have the wrong idea, that’s inconsequential. Its basically a talk that’s going to be hard if you can’t talkback. And having facts and scientific research doesn’t count for anything. Hence, when’s the right time to have the talk?

Love Thy Neighbor

Image
I dint say lets be weird about it. After all the parents may be watching. It’s a different type of love. After all, Jesus Christ did simplify it to those two commandments. But these days religion has become a sore subject. Don’t just assume its just fellow Christians out there in the big universe. Every one has the way they associate. Yours isn’t the “perfect” doctrine you peg it to be.
However, some things do go across the board. When you meet an oncoming person on the street, you already have a which-way dance. Literally ants do the same thing. It’s in our DNA. Love should also be in our DNA. I don’t get why suddenly people discriminate about tribe, race, religion and colour. Like come on! I get born non-white and suddenly its “that ones overcooked, I don’t want it. You take it!” who said white’s perfect? My white clothes are never the same as they left the store. No matter how many times I scrub and bleach, “tint haitoki”
We all live on a very thin sheet of crust resting on ve…

What is your story?

Image
seems a fairly straight foward question but how some people dont get it is mind boggling. i was recently at a funeral and the person's story of forty plus years was minimized to one page. it's sad when a loved one dies but its sadder that regardless of how interesting their life may have been, it isreduced to one page. a person’s life story is not a Wikipedia biography of the facts and events of a life, but rather the way a person integrates those facts and events internally—picks them apart and weaves them back together to make meaning. This narrative becomes a form of identity, in which the things someone chooses to include in the story, and the way she tells it, can both reflect and shape who they are. A life story doesn’t just say what happened, it says why it was important, what it means for who the person is, for who they’ll become, and for what happens next with the age of social media, we now judge people by 140 characters or the pictures they post. but do we really …

Africa - What's left

Image
Its quite an interesting place. With all the wildlife and natural resources. But one time in a far, far away place, some heads of states actually decided to scramble and partition it. So they grabbed each a piece of land to enrich themselves. And partitioned some raw materials to take back to their far away land in their ships. So they left the land bare and went back to their castles and monarchys. But they had a surprise. They wanted to be paid for the land. So they formed financial institutions to lend to the poor Africans. So that African countries could continue to be poor while all their raw materials had been stolen. I think Africa is owed back some land rates. Its about time we got paid for time spent. Really, colonialism and now some more neo-colonialism? Are some people more equal than others? Just because some one has the technology to build guns has the right to shoot the spear throwing Africans. Time spent should be equated to the debt currently owed. And probably som…

Human Intelligence vs Artificial Intelligence

Image
Our brain power is one of the few things that the entire human race agrees upon. Much as we are proud of human intelligence, there are several shortcomings. Our memory does fail us and as age catches up to us, memory loss becomes more frequent. Artificial intelligence is quite a broad field. It’s not just about robots as movies would have us believe. Inventions in these field are quite astonishing. From deep blue, the chess game that beat the grandmaster; medical diagnosis expert systems to more recently autonomous cars. The one important advantage being that their memory never fails. Technology may change but those memory could still be recovered long after we are gone-eternity. However, there are the skeptics who argue that one day the machines will wake up and realize that they don’t actually need the humans. Any being with intelligence will go about conquering its surrounding world. We aren’t there yet, the zombie apocalypse hasn’t begun and that sounds much more fun

Kenyan Politics

Image
Wanjiku was so proud to be a parent. Her daughter was her pride and joy. She could never imagine anyone hurting her. When she came of age, she was ecstatic to take her to the neighbourhood school. But somewhere along the road, the school descended into decay. Her pleas fell on deaf ears when she complained. She was loyal to the neighbourhood school, but she loved her daughter more. She had to transfer her daughter to a better school. It comes to a point where you have to cut your loses and decide what you love more. Wanjiku chose to love her daughter more. Kenya has been playing a game of grandfather politics for too long. It’s always a case of, if my father was good at this, I can hack it too. Kenyatta, Odinga, Mudavadi, Moi to name a few. These are names of hand-me-down politicians. Basically a country descended into a pair of old jeans. At least in a monarchy you already knew you were in shit luck. Kenyan democracy is worse, The illusion of free will. A class of grown ass men st…

One day when I was out grazing – wow! It really sounds smug, but who cares - I had to go a number two. The rule of the forest is that, you have to hide good; otherwise, no one cares. Apparently, I had had some passion fruits the previous day because lo and behold, six month later there was some juicy ass passion fruits that had been planted in manure. There’s a point to this story. You just read about a time I took a big dump.

Friends

Image
We do say we’re friends, but why? Is it that we know each others’ secrets? Is it that we share the same interests, likes and dislikes? Is it because you did help me out when I was in a tight spot? Or is it that we just fear being alone? Honesty in this day of social media is quite fickle. Your “friends” will like the shit you post online no matter how terrible, might never tell you. I get it, theres honesty, being rude or just being a bitch. Since it somewhere with an internet connection, even the toilet, people get the confidence to say some of the weirdest shit when shitting. But we have to adapt. It’s not like technology is going anywhere……yeah, apparently its not. This now is my avenue to air my depressing thoughts. Tough luck. I really don’t have to care what you say, since my friends no longer like my truth bombs. I always did start with a, “I don’t wanna hurt you…” but come on, what if his breath really did stink? I had to be a “friend” and tell him to stop kissing the toilet b…

Charles Dar-Selfie

Evolution is truly an amazing spectacle. From a one cell organism, we have evolved to such complex creatures that we don’t understand. In a universe that has also evolved that we cant explain either. But one trait that baffles me is that of all the things we would become is attention whores. Look at me, using bad words so that I can get me myself some more cult members. I even threw a joke in there, however terrible. Is it that we didn’t get some self control? Seriously? A generation has fallen into duckfaces, nudity and basically total lack of self-worth to remain interesting? The question that bothers me is what next for us as humans? What crazy thing will we do next? Or is this the end? Will the epilogue be, “after lots of selfies and disrespect for the environment, the human race got boring and their deities wiped them out.” Since these are the rumbling of a crazy guy that just figured out technology, this won’t happen. Humans are invincible and will live forever.

my naivety

Image
At times being naïve doesn’t hurt. You wake up and hope that the day will turn out okay. But how many times does that happen? Yeah, remember the cliché, “life’s a bitch”. It ends up in the column of shitty days, but we always persevere. Yes, there are the good days but those aren’t the ones that keep us up at night. So, will we just stare at the ceiling all night on election day or sleep like a baby? Will we say, we fought the good fight or we gave up on this country a long time ago and it aint my problem no more. We as a human race aren’t perfect, not even close. But at times it isn’t the perfect people who save the day, but the perfect imperfect. John D. Rockefeller single handedly streamlined, standardized and brought order to the American petroleum industry. In so doing he was a shrewd business man and created a monopoly. But it had to be done. There is a presidential candidate out there who can whip this country into shape. I don’t know who, I don’t know how – my naivity astound…

2 months down

Image
Every time we think of time, its only when its ending and we are full of regrets of what could have been...generally. we never really think of the good times, or in my case, okay. 2016 isn't a far memory but its already 2 months ago. the beautiful thing about time is that we forget, move on and 'let it go', unless you have depression, tough luck. time heals all wounds and we got 10 months to still make 2017 better, or worse, who knows??
